WHAT
IS VANIQA? |
VANIQA
is a NEW medical breakthrough medication cream applied to the face
that has been proven to stop the growth of unwanted facial hair in women.
The active ingredient in Vaniqa cream is eflornithine hydrochloride monohydrate.
Vaniqa is the first-of-its-kind and ONLY PRESCRIPTION medicine approved
by the FDA for the treatment of excessive facial hair in women. |
WHAT
CAUSES EXCESSIVE FACIAL HAIR GROWTH IN WOMEN? |
Excessive
facial hair, hirsutism, is a very common problem affecting women
of all ages and all race and ethnic backgrounds. Many women have hair growth
in the upper lip area and sideburn areas due to heredity. Women commonly
experience an increase in facial hair as a normal part of the aging process.
But in some cases hirsutism can be due to an excess of male hormones triggered
by medical conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Disease, malignant or non-malignant
tumors, or serious endocrine disorders. It is therefore imperative that
any women experiencing an increase in facial hair or abnormal heavy distribution
of facial hair have a complete physical examination by their own primary
care physician. |
HOW
DOES VANIQA WORK? |
Vaniqa
works locally in the areas applied by blocking the enzyme, ornithine decarboxylase,
located in the hair bulb which is necessary for hair growth. Vaniqa is
not a depilatory, rather it works on the hair follicle it and prevents
the growth of new facial hairs. It's does not remove hairs that are currently
present. Therefore, one needs to continue using a hair removal technique
during the first weeks of treatment |
WILL
VANIQZ WORK FOR ME? |
Vaniqa
has been shown to successfully inhibit hair growth in over 70% of product
users. Vaniqa is effective in all races, although it is more
effective in Caucasians than Blacks. Vaniqa helps most women with
no major side effects. Vaniqa slows the growth of new facial hairs
to completely preventing their growth in many women. |
HOW LONG BEFORE
I SEE RESULTS?
|
Vaniqa
works only on active growing hair follicles, therefore it takes about 8
weeks to begin to notice results and the improvement is gradual.
Since Vaniqa is not a depilatory, it does not remove hair and during these
initial weeks of treatment you need to continue to remove hair. You
will begin to realize that Vaniqa is working as the frequency of which
you have to remove unwanted hair decreases. Ultimately as you continue
to use Vaniqa he hair growth stops completely. If you do not notice
results after 6 months of treatment then you discontinue treatments.
|
HOW LONG DO
I HAVE TO USE VANIQA?
|
Vaniqa
does not permanently remove hair or "cure" hirsutism. The underlying predisposition
to hirsutism is still present and if one stops using Vaniqa the unwanted
hair will return to about the same condition as before beginning treatment.
Using Vaniqa regularly will help you manage your condition without plucking
and tweezing and improve your appearance |
HOW IS VANIQA
BETTER THAN OTHER HAIR REMOVAL METHODS?
|
Vaniqa
when used regularly will ultimately prevent the growth of excessive facial
hair. Tweezing and plucking often lead to skin discoloration and
folliculitis. Depilatory applications often are messy and are irritative
to the skin. Laser hair removal is not permanent, it's expensive,
can have severe side effects and can not be used on all skin colors. Electrolysis
is painful and can result in scar formation and discoloration. Vaniqa
is as simple to use as a daily moisturizer and when applied regularly will
painlessly result in a significant improvement in appearance. |
WHEN &
HOW OFTEN DO I USE VANIQA?
|
Vaniqa
is applied twice daily to the affected areas of the face only. Apply a
small amount is to the affected areas where you want to stop unwanted facial
hair on the face and chin area only. Rub the cream in well and DO
NOT wash the treated areas for at least 4 hours after application.
Wait approximately 8 hours between applications. Of course wash your
hands after each application. Vaniqa should NOT be applied to any
other parts of the body other than face and chin. |
CAN VANIQA
BE USED WITH OTHER SKIN CARE PRODUCTS?
|
Vaniqa
can be used along with other skin care products. Always apply Vaniqa
first and wait at least 5 minutes until it has fully absorbed into the
skin and is dry before applying sunscreens, moisturizers and cosmetics.
Vaniqa can be used with skin rejuvenation products, just remember to
always apply Vaniqa first and wait until it's completely absorbed before
applying other skin care products. It is not known whether Vaniqa
has any interaction with other topically applied drug products. Therefore,
if you are using any topical prescription medication other than skin rejuvenation
products, Vaniqa is not recommended. Always check with your regular
doctor before applying any other prescription topicals. |
WHAT
IF I MISS A VANIQA APPLICATION? |
If
you miss a Vaniqa dose it is best to just skip the missed dose and continue
on with your daily skin care regimen. Never double-up or use
a greater amount to make- up for missed dose, this will only enhance the
likelihood of more severe skin irritations. |
WHAT
ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF VANIQA? |
The
majority of patients using Vaniqa experience no side effects. Vaniqa
is fragrance-free and any side effects are mild if any. The side
effects when used topically as directed are limited to possible stinging,
burning or itching sensation, redness, folliculitis(hair-bumps) and acne.
Less than 1% of users experience any side effects. If irritation
continues stop use of Vaniqa and contact your doctor. If you get
the medication in your eyes, rinse immediately with water and contact your
regular physician! Vaniqa has less than a 1% absorption into the
bloodstream, therefore here are NO systemic effects when used appropriately |
